christopher_dornerFeb 13, 2013, UPDATE – CALIFORNIA — According to CBS News, charred remains were found inside a burned-out cabin near Big Bear Lake,.. east of Los Angeles, CA. DNA test have not yet confirmed if it is in fact Dorner.

The cabin went up in flames after an intense shootout Yesterday, after cleaning ladies spotted Dorner at a condominium in Big Bear Yesterday morning. He tied them up and left them unharmed before stealing a vehicle. Only CBS News captured the gunfight while it was happening.

Click here to read Christopher Dorner’s Online Rant (Manifesto) – A massive manhunt for Dorner was conducted this past week. Dorner is accused of killing several people including a two Police officers and an off-duty cop along with the cop’s fiance.

Police in California came upon Dorner’s online rant towards LAPD cops. He goes on to threaten violence towards police and their family members.

Parts of the manifesto are as follows;

Don’t honor these fallen officers/dirtbags. When your family members die, they just see you as extra overtime at a crime scene and at a perimeter. Why would you value their lives when they clearly don’t value yours or your family members lives? I’ve heard many officers who state they see dead victims as ATV’s, Waverunners, RV’s and new clothes for their kids. Why would you shed a tear for them when they in return crack a smile for your loss because of the impending extra money they will receive in their next paycheck for sitting at your loved ones crime scene of 6 hours because of the overtime they will accrue. They take photos of your loved ones recently deceased bodies with their cellphones and play a game of who has the most graphic dead body of the night with officers from other divisions. This isn’t just the 20 something year old officers, this is the 50 year old officers with significant time on the job as well who participate.

Never allow a LAPPL union attorney to be a retired LAPD Captain,(Quan). He doesn’t work for you, your interest, or your name. He works for the department, period. His job is to protect the department from civil lawsuits being filed and their best interest which is the almighty dollar. His loyalty is to the department, not his client. Even when he knowingly knows your innocent and the BOR also knows your innocent after Christopher Gettler stated on videotape that he was kicked and Evans attorney confessed to the BOR off the record that she kicked Gettler.

And the threat;

The Violence of action will be HIGH. I am the reason TAC alert was established. I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty. ISR is my strength and your weakness. You will now live the life of the prey. Your RD’s and homes away from work will be my AO and battle space. I will utilize every tool within INT collections that I learned from NMITC in Dam Neck. You have misjudged a sleeping giant. There is no conventional threat assessment for me. JAM, New Ba’ath party, 1920 rev BGE, ACM, AAF, AQAP, AQIM and AQIZ have nothing on me. Do not deploy airships or gunships. SA-7 Manpads will be waiting. As you know I also own Barrett .50′s so your APC are defunct and futile.

Outside agencies and individual officers on patrol. If you recognize my vehicle, and confirm it is my vehicle thru a dmv/want warrant check. It behoves you to respond to dispatch that your query was for information purposes only. If you proceed with a traffic stop or attempt to notify other officers of my location or for backup you will not live to see the medal of valor you were hoping to receive for your actions. Think before you attempt to intervene. You will not survive. Your family will receive that medal of valor posthumously. It will gather dust on the fireplace mantel for years. Then one day, it will go in a shoe box with other memories. Your mother will lose a son or daughter. Your significant other will be left alone, but they will find someone else to fill your void in the future and make them just as happy. Your children, if you have them, will call someone else mommy or daddy. Don’t be selfish. Your vest is only a level II or IIIA, think about it.

The rant goes on.

Feb 10, 2013, LOS ANGELES, CA — Manhunt For Former LAPD Police Officer In Southern California Continues

christopher-dornerFormer Los Angeles law enforcement officer Christopher Dorner is wanted for a series of murders targeted at police officers and their family members.

Police including SWAT Teams and bloodhounds have been on a manhunt the past several days looking for him near the Big Bear Lake in Southern California. They’ve been searching the snowy San Bernardo mountains after finding camping equipment along with weapons inside a burnt-out truck belonging to Dorner. LAPD Sergeant. Rudy Lopez said in a statement on Sunday that the vehicle was so charred that investigators couldn’t be more specific about the nature of its contents. They went door-to-door, asking the hundreds of cabin-owners if they have seen the disgruntled ex-officer.

Dorner allegedly shot and killed a Riverside police officer in the early hours of Thursday morning. Dorner pulled up across from two Riverside officers stopped at a traffic light in their patrol car and used his rifle to shoot them, killing one and injuring the other, according to Chief Sergio Diaz of the Riverside Police Department.

Dorner is out with a vengeance and has threatened to target several former co-workers who he blames for his failed career. He has left rambling rants on Facebook vowing to take revenge. “You are aware that I have always been the top shot, highest score, an expert in rifle qualifications in every unit I’ve been in,” he wrote. “I will utilize every bit of small arms training, demolition ordnance, and survival training I’ve been given.”

The killings and threats have led police to provide protection to 50 families.

A captain for the LAPD who was named a target in the manifesto posted on Facebook told the Orange County Register he has not stepped outside his house since he learned of the threat.

“From what I’ve seen of (Dorner’s) actions, he feels he can make allegations for injustice and justify killing people and that’s not reasonable,” said Capt. Phil Tingirides, who chaired a board that stripped Dorner of his badge. “The end never justifies the means.”

Also, newly released surveillance video showed Dorner tossing several items into a Dumpster behind an auto parts store in National City on Monday. The store’s manager told FOX5 in San Diego that an employee found a magazine full of bullets, a military belt and a military helmet. Majid Yahyai said he and the employee took the items across the street to a police station.

Many search warrants have been issued including Dorner’s mother’s La Palma home, but police are tip-lipped as the ongoing investigation continues.

lester_garnierLester Garneir (pictured) was a San Francisco police officer who was murdered 24 years ago by an unknown culprit.

On the evening of July 10, 1988 Lester was eating dinner with family in the Bay Area of Concord, California when he received a sudden phone call which cut the dinner short. After hanging up the phone, Lester left. This was the last time his family will see him alive.

Less than 24 hours after suddenly leaving his family’s home, Lester was found in Walnut Creek, only a couple of miles from his home, slumped over his stirring wheel in his 1984 Chevrolet Corvette. He had been shot in the head and chest.

His vehicle was parked across three parking spots in a manner that Lester’s law enforcement colleagues said was so that anyone approaching the car could be spotted.

The murder weapon, an AMT .380 semi-automatic, was never located.

Witnesses who were in Walnut Creek the night of the murder told authorities they saw two females leaving the crime scene area around the same time of the shooting. The first woman was described as a tall, thin blonde who cops now believe — thanks to advances in fingerprinting technology — was a Scottish immigrant named Catherine Kuntz.

catherine_kuntz

Kuntz moved to the United States from her home country of Scotland in 1985 after meeting a U.S. Navy Sailor.

The 44-year-old recently called a prison in Ocala, Florida, her “home.”

Kuntz is the prime suspect and police want her behind bars. They say that during the 1980′s Kuntz lived in apartments threw out Martinez, Concord, Walnut Creek and Alameda, CA. And often visited the Oakland area.

Three years after the murder of Lester, Kuntz was charged in Virginia for attempting a ‘murder for hire’ plot. She hired a teenager to murder her husband, Gregory Kuntz however, when Gregory survived he was able to aid police to the suspect shooter and although Catherine was cleared of the conspiracy charge, she did plead guilty to misdemeanor assault for her involvement in hiring the two young men to kill her husband.  For that, she was given credit for time served.

Kuntz served alot of time in prison for different crimes and although she’s been a long-time suspect in Lester’s murder police don’t have the evidence to charge her and Lester Garnier’s murder remains unsolved.

eder_wantedCarl Alfred Eder was a 16-year-old homeless teenager in the fall of 1958 when Thomas Pendergast, a family man and father of four, seen the young man hitchhiking alone on the San Diego Freeway and decided to give him a lift. He later invited the teen to stay at his home until he got a job and got on his feet.

Less than two months later, on December 12, 1958, a gruesome discovery was made at the Pendergast family home in El Cajon.

Thomas Pendergast had gone to work earlier that day and came home to his wife Lois Pendergast, 4-year-old daughter Diane, 2-year-old toddler named Allen, 6-year-old Thomas Jr. and 9-year-old David, who all had been bludgeoned/stabbed to death.

They were murdered in cold blood and Eder was the culprit.

When Eder was being interviewed by police, he told them that Diane Pendergast, the 4-year-old, was annoying him so he flipped out. He ran and got his shotgun and shot Mrs. Pendergast in the head. He then got a butcher-knife and went after Diane, stabbing her viciously and slashing her throat. He then went after the toddler with just as much force and after killing him, he proceeded to attack the rest of the family.

They were stabbed so violently, authorities say they were disemboweled.

When Mr. Pendergast arrived home from work, Eder made him drive him around until he (Eder) decided to flee on foot. Mr. Pendergast then went back to his home and that’s when he discovered his butchered family.

El Cajon police arrested Eder and he was booked and went to trail where he was convicted and sentenced to two life terms. He was serving his sentence in Tehachapi, CA when he escaped in 1974 at age 32 years of age.

Two years after escaping, a badly composed body was discovered on the Pendergast property–chained to two cinder blocks. The male had been dead two weeks but it wasn’t Eder.

Desi Woods is wanted for homicide.

On September 26, 2010 police discovered the body of 68-year-old Irene Camacho, a former deli cashier/clerk at Barstow Stater Bros, where she was employed for over 30 years. She had been strangled to death at her own home on Piute Street in Barstow, CA.

The suspect would soon be identified as Desi Woods, then 36, the son of the murdered woman. He had strangled Camacho to death after a heated argument between the two erupted. After the murder he fled.

Camacho’s fiance had gone over her home the following morning because he was concerned that she wasn’t answering his phone calls. That’s when he discovered her body and contacted police.

The District Attorney’s office had charged Woods with his mother’s murder and a warrant was issued for his arrest but despite numerous attempts to locate him, he remains on the run.

Police are also working with U.S. marshals to locate Woods and have followed many tips that lead to dead ends. They’re hoping someone comes forward with valuable information.

“It’s bizarre,” said Barstow Police Detective Daniel Arthur. “With his lifestyle … I really thought he would have some kind of run in with law enforcement by now, but he hasn’t. So it’s frustrating.”

Their have been sightings, many with mistaken identity and most are unconfirmed including witnesses claiming to have seen Wood’s driving a green 1970′s pick-up truck.

Woods, who was also residing in Barstow, was diagnosed as a paranoid Schizophrenic. Police describe him as a violent drunk and drug user who uses heroin and methamphetamine regularly.

America’s Most Wanted aired this case on October 12, 2012, two years after a warrant had been sent out for his capture.

“The victim was a staple in the town she grew up in. She knew everyone in town. And it was an extremely unfortunate circumstance for Irene because the suspect is one of her sons.” said Jim Gagliano, producer of AMW.

If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Desi Woods you’re urged to please contact: Barstow Police Department (760) 256-2211

The boy in the box

Boxboy

In 1957, an unidentified Caucasian male, probable age 4 to 6 years, whose nude body, wrapped in a cheap flannel blanket, was found lying face up inside a large cardboard carton just a few feet from the edge of Susquehanna Road in Northeast Philadelphia. The body was dry and clean. The boy’s arms were carefully folded across his stomach. The finger and toenails had been recently trimmed short and neat. His hair had been cut recently – very close to the head, in a crude, hurried way, perhaps as a deliberate attempt to conceal the child’s identity. Small clumps of cut hair clung to his entire body, suggesting that someone had groomed him while he was unclothed, probably either shortly before or immediately after death. There were many bruises all over the child’s body; particularly on the head and face. All of the bruises appeared to have been inflicted at the same time. Despite recent DNA investigations in to the crime, it remains unsolved.

The Axe man of New Orleans

1196750-French Quarter New Orleans-New Orleans

On May 23, 1918, an Italian grocer named Joseph Maggio and his wife were butchered while sleeping in their apartment above the Maggio grocery store. Upon investigation, the police discovered that a panel in the rear door had been chiseled out, providing a way in for the killer. The murder weapon, an axe, was found in the apartment, still coated with the Maggio’s blood. Nothing in the house had been stolen, including jewelry and money that were nearly in plain sight. The only clue that was discovered was a message that had been written in chalk near the victim’s home. It read: “Mrs. Joseph Maggio will sit up tonight. Just write Mrs. Toney”. Almost exactly a month after the Maggio murder came a second crime. Louis Bossumer, a grocer who lived behind his store with his common-law wife, Annie Harriet Lowe, was discovered by neighbors one morning, lying in a pool of blood. The Axeman murdered a total of eight people before the killings stopped. There was no evidence to link the only suspect, Joseph Mumfre, to the crimes.

Jack the Ripper

Jacktheripper3-1

Traditionally, Jack the Ripper is considered to have killed five women, all London prostitutes, during 1888. The Ripper generally killed by strangling his victims, then laying them down and cutting the arteries in their throats; this was followed by a varied process of mutilation, during which parts of the body were removed and kept. During the autumn and winter of 1888/89 a number of letters circulated among the police and newspapers, all claiming to be from the Whitechapel murderer; these include the ‘From Hell’ letter and one accompanied by part of a kidney. Ripperologists consider most, if not all, of the letters to be hoaxes. Over a century later Jack’s identity has never been wholly proven (there isn’t even a leading suspect), most aspects of the case are still debated and the Ripper is an infamous cultural bogeyman.

Jack the Stripper

Hammersmith-Bridge

Jack the Stripper was the nickname given to an unknown serial killer responsible for what came to be known as the London “nude murders” between 1964 and 1965. His victimology was similar to Jack the Ripper’s. He murdered six — possibly eight — prostitutes, whose nude bodies were discovered around London or dumped in the River Thames. The victim count is ambiguous because two of the murders attributed to him did not fit his modus operandi. Like the Jack the Ripper killings, the Stripper’s reign of terror seemed to cease on its own, and there were few solid clues for police to investigate. Though his identity remains unknown, crime writer Donald Rumbelow notes that the killer could have been a young man who committed suicide in south London. This main suspect, who was also a favorite suspect of Chief Superintendent Du Rose, was a security guard on the Heron Trading Estate in Acton whose rounds included a paint shop where one of the bodies was thought to have been hidden after the crime. Though there was never any hard evidence to link him to the crimes, his family found his suicide inexplicable, and his suicide note cryptically said only that he was “unable to take the strain any longer”.

Black Dahlia

Short

Elizabeth Short (born 29 July 1924) was a 22-year-old American woman who was the victim of a gruesome and much-publicized murder. Nicknamed the Black Dahlia, Short was found cut in half and severely mutilated on 15 January 1947 in Leimert Park, Los Angeles. The murder, which has remained unsolved, has been the source of widespread speculation as well as several books and film adaptations. Sensational and sometimes inaccurate press coverage, as well as the horrible nature of the crime, focused intense public attention on the case. About 60 people confessed to the murder, mostly men, as well as a few women. As the case continues to command public attention, many more people have been proposed as Short’s killer, much like London’s Jack the Ripper murders of 1888.

Authorities having been searching for Jason Derek Brown, 43, who has been on the run since late 2004 when he shot an armored car guard and fled with stolen money in Phoenix, Arizona, right outside of a Phoenix movie theater.

Immediately after being named the suspect in the homicide, Brown fled Phoenix and went to Henderson, Nevada and later travelled to Las Vegas. While there, he had swapped his BMW for a black Escalade. In January, 2005, authorities found Brown’s Cadillac Escalade abandoned in the parking lot of Portland International Airport in Oregon.

The one-time Salt Lake City resident and Laguna Beach native who attended Laguna Beach High School, could now be taking advantage of Mormon church members to stay hidden from public view, the FBI’s lead agent on the case said.

Although Brown is described as a ‘show off’ who likes to party, authorities believe he could be hiding among the Mormon and say he is a ‘skilled liar’ who has a ‘surfer dude’  appearance and a common name which could help him easily blend in among a crowd. He also speaks fluent French and is a former Mormon who once served LDS mission in France.

On December 8, 2007, three years after his first degree murder charge, Brown was listed on FBI’s Most Wanted List as the 489th Most Wanted fugitive and FBI has been looking for him ever since. It’s now 2013 and the Federal Bureau of Investigation has now upgraded him to FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives.

In 2005, less than one year after the murder, authorities received over 200 leads with the majority of leads being outside of Arizona, even some possible sightings in Canada. Most of the sightings haven’t been confirmed however, if it is then he could be on the move in any state.

The most recent confirmed sighting was in August 2008, when an acquaintance of Brown recognized him while they were stopped at a traffic light near Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. Their mutual recognition prompted Brown to drive through the stoplight. Aware that Brown was a fugitive, the witness informed police of the sighting. According to him, Brown had longer hair and a deeper tan than in the 2004 photograph of his wanted poster. Brown is considered armed and extremely dangerous and those with a possible sighting should contact police immediately and avoid confronting Brown themself.

TIJUANA, NEW MEXICO —
Twenty-year-old Jayson Artis and Michael Justin were both friends who attended the same college in Los Angeles, California. On August 1, 1988 the two decided to travel to Tijuana, Mexico for a party, along with Jayson’s younger brother Steve Thomas. They decided to go to Tijuana because it is one of Mexico’s most popular border towns for college students looking for fun at bargain rates.
But apparently a good time here can cost you your life.
About 9:00 pm, the three of them started hitting places that offered all you could drink for less than $5.00.  Jayson was usually friendly, but he had a reputation as a rowdy drinker. That night, he was already a little intoxicated and didn’t realize that tequila cost extra—$6.00 a shot.  Jason’s friend, Michael Justin, says that Jason got into an argument with the tequila vendor:
“Jayson didn’t want to give up the money, so I just said, ‘Jayson, give him the money. Just give him the money and let’s get out of here.’”
Jayson and Steven left Michael at the bar and went back to the strip.  Steven recalls what happened next:
“My strategy was to hurry up and find the car so we can go sit down. We’re kind of drunk, you know what I’m saying? Walking around Tijuana. We were walking down the street, and that’s when my brother accidentally bumped into a female officer.”
The officer seemed to be offended and made Jayson get on his knees. Eventually, the police let him go. Steven says he tried to get his brother to move on as quickly as possible:
“I told him, ‘Walk behind me. Come on. Let’s hurry up and try to find this car.’ He was, like, three or four yards behind me at first. That’s when I walked up some more to another block. I looked to the right, and I looked behind me and my brother wasn’t there. My first reaction was probably that he’s sitting down on a curb somewhere or sitting up against a building, anything like that…”
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Steven was looking for Jayson in the crowds of other partiers. They had become separated while heading back to their car.
“I thought he was just sitting down somewhere, resting. Or that maybe he turned down a different street,” recalls Thomas, who was 16 at the time. “All of us were finished, but he was past drunk. I was very worried that he probably went to jail.”
Soon after Steven lost sight of Jayson, Michael claims that he spotted him in the back of  a police car:
“I looked, and I said, ‘What is he doing in the back of a police car?’ They were the last people I saw Jayson with. I saw Jayson with my own eyes in the back of a police car, like I know my hand.”
That would be the last time either of the two would see Jayson alive.
Jayson was found, but not by Thomas. In the early hour Morning of August 2, 1998, at approximately 3a.m., a policeman discovered his bruised and bloodied body in an alley in Tijuana’s rundown “Zona Norte” section. His head was heavily damaged, and his chest bore bruises and broken ribs.
The American consulate sent word that he was located deceased. Tijuana Police told Jayson’s family that he must have gotten lost trying to get back to the border. They called it a ‘‘tragic hit-and-run accident.’‘ But Steven doubts that story:
“I believe that it had something to do with the police. I feel that for a fact. After Michael told me that he’d seen my brother in the back of a police car, there’s gotta be something up there.”
Infact all Jayson’s whole family believed that story didn’t add up.
“I really believe it in my heart that the police killed my son,” said Rose Arrington, Jayson’s mother. “There’s no doubt in my mind. And for somebody to beat somebody like that they had to be so angry.”
Arrington has mulled these facts every day since her son’s death: Jayson was prone to belligerence when under the influence, and was extremely intoxicated that evening. He had already had two run-ins with the police that night, and was last seen in a patrol car with four officers. Official explanation notwithstanding. His autopsy report showed that his lower body was almost entirely unscathed — injuries that many agree are inconsistent with a hit-and-run.
The dust long ago settled in the Tijuana alley where Jayson was found, a barren strip of dirt connecting two rows of car repair shops and abandoned buildings. And an investigation into his death stalled in 2000. But many years later, Jayson’s family and loved ones fear that the real story has been covered up by the Tijuana police department, and sloughed off in the shuffle of diplomacy by the American consulate.
