brianna_maitlandBrianna Maitland, then 18, was last seen Friday, March 19, 2004 at approximately 11:30PM, leaving the Black Lantern Inn in Montgomery, VT where she worked as a waitress. She was supposed to drive to a friend’s home but never arrived.

The following day at approximately 1:30PM, her vehicle, a green 1985 Oldsmobile was discovered backed into an abandoned, run-down house about a mile away from where she was last seen. Authorities, along with cadaver dogs and helicopters searched the abandoned home and the area surrounding it.  They noticed her car keys were missing but her two paychecks were sitting on the passenger side of her car.

In the weeks after Brianna’s disappearance, the Vermont National Guard, police, and hundreds of volunteers searched threw out Franklin County but no trace of Brianna was ever located.

Her family and loved ones don’t believe Brianna is a runaway, and her make-up, clothes, credit card, contact lenses, etc, were still at her friends house. Something she would have taken with her if she was planning to leave.

According to reports, four years after Brianna disappeared an anonymous tipster contacted Vermont State Police, telling them he seen her at Caesars Atlantic City Hotel Casino on January 17, 2006, gambling at a table for nearly an hour with an unknown adult man. After viewing surveillance cameras, it was hard to determine if the young woman was in fact, Brianna Maitland.

Family say that Brianna would have attempted to contact them. It is possible that she is being held against her will, possible in a human sex-trafficking ring, which would explain the callers random tip and the fact that authorities in Vermont couldn’t find a trace of her. It is unclear why, if the called seen her in January, 2006, he held off contacting police with his claim.

Police believe that she is victim of foul play. She is described as a Caucasian female, standing 5’4” tall, weighing approximately 110 pounds (thin frame) with medium-brown hair and hazel eyes.
